Kari grew up in East Troy, WI, where she graduated from high school in 1998. She graduated in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communication from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She currently works as a communications consultant for Wells Capital Management in Menomonee Falls, and is attending Marquette University, where she plans to get her master's degree in communication just a few short months after the wedding. She enjoys cooking, photography and traveling, although she doesn't have enough time quite yet to master them! Bryan was born in Chicago and grew up in Muskego, WI, where he graduated from high school in 2001 (yes, he is 2.5 years younger than Kari!). He earned an associate's degree in marketing from Waukesha County Technical College in 2004. For nearly two-and-a-half years, Bryan ran his own restaurant before moving on to the next step in his career. He enjoys snowmobiling, boating, riding motorcycles and watching football.

The Engagement

Bryan and I got engaged on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at the beautiful Tahquamenon Falls State Park near Newberry, Michigan. He had me set up my camera to take pictures of us on an automatic timer, and while doing so, he popped the question!

The Ring

Bryan bought my beautiful ring from a one-of-a-kind jeweler in Germantown, WI (An Eye for Design). It's a princess-cut diamond with a four-prong cathedral setting. It's simple and elegant, just like I wanted! The best part is, he picked it out all on his own. We never went ring shopping together!

The Date

We are getting married on September 18, 2010. We apologize in advance to all of you bow hunters, as it is opening day for the season, but we wanted our wedding to be held in September and the 25th was already chosen. The 11th is not a day we wanted to remember as our wedding date, and the 4th is Labor Day weekend. Cross your fingers for great weather!

The Church

We have chosen to have our ceremony at Gesu Parish on Marquette University's campus. The church is absolutely beautiful, and supposedly boasts one of the longest aisles in Wisconsin at 100 feet long! Bring your binoculars! The ceremony is set for 2 p.m.

Address: 1145 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53233

The Reception

Our reception is being held at The Wisconsin Club, the original Alexander Mitchell mansion built in 1848. After visiting 18 (yes, 18) potential reception sites, I narrowed it down to two candidates for Bryan to see. He loved it, hands-down! Hopefully you will, too!

Address: 900 West Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53233

Engagement Photos

We had our engagement photo session at Grant Park in Milwaukee on Sunday, September 27, 2009. Unfortunately, we got rained on a little bit, but the pictures still turned out great! View our slideshow here (if password is required, it's "Kari").

The Photographer

Becoming a photographer has always been my dream, so choosing a photographer based on price or mediocre images just wasn't an option. After over six months of researching photographers, we finally agreed upon a reasonable, yet awesome photographer. Riitta Kulinski offered us everything we were looking for in a package, and the quality of her pictures and albums are amazing. She's a down-to-earth gal who's going to help us remember our special day forever! Check out the Engagement Photos section above to see our engagement pictures!

The Videographer

We had initially planned on not having a videographer, but after attending our friends' wedding (Rhonda and Brian ... thank you!) and viewing their amazing montage, I convinced Bryan that it was a must! Poetry in Motion Productions, as a result, was added to our list of vendors!

The DJ

The entertainment for our exciting day will be provided by Sound By Design. We're so happy with our choice. Paul's personality is top-notch, and bound to be everything but cheesy!

Wedding Party Attire

Ladies: Ann Taylor
Gentlemen: Savvi Formal Wear
Flower Girls: Pegeen.com

The Cake

We have decided to order our cake from The Gourmet Cheesecake Shop.

The Florist

Our flowers will be arranged by Barb's Green House Florist in Hales Corners. They have done flower arrangements for us in the past, and Bryan's mom uses them all the time. No words can describe how beautiful their flowers are! See for yourself above (the top three were used at Erica's (Bryan's sister) wedding, the fourth was used at Erica's shower and the bottom was a beautiful topiary Bryan got me several years ago)!

Hotel Accommodations

For your convenience, we have researched the best rates for hotels close to the Wisconsin Club. Listed below are the three hotels we have booked blocks of rooms at for both Friday, September 17, 2010, and Saturday, September 18, 2010. Please note important features for each hotel (reservation cut-off dates, pricing, parking, and distance to reception venue) and base your decision on what's most important to you. Click the hotel name in each description to go that hotel's Web site. Please also note that we have based our choices on pricing and close proximity to the Wisconsin Club. We have not stayed at any of these hotels, therefore we do not not know what they look like. If you are looking for something more top of the line (which will not be as close, remember), see the list at the bottom of this posting for other hotel options (which you would reserve on your own at the hotel's current rates). We will be providing shuttle service to and from the Wisconsin Club to the three hotels we have blocked rooms at.
